MCC: The revolution begins June 1st.

I'm in. 

And I thought I'd share something I got while at a fundraising breakfast this morning put on by The Children's Center in Detroit:

"I am D"

I am a visionary

I am a modern day revolutionary

Soldering the chains and holding my fist in the air

Representing all that is fair

From this constant attention

Of this constant digression - of ourselves

But those who truly know and bother to take a deeper look

Know better

They see what I see

Hear what I hear

And feel what I feel

That is a place

That swells with culture and color

And this city is represented by

A solitary letter

I'd sure like to know what I'm "in for" before I say "I'm in," but knowing the history of MCC, it's bound to be good stuff!

The "older folks" will probably remember this one from the Jefferson Airplane---"VOLUNTEERS" ("younger folks" might remember it from Forest Gump)---it might work as our "anthem.":

For those of you who offered to assist, I have a posted the "for starters" list:

Need to find an office that can host about 20 in Troy, Southfield, Novi, Sterling Hts, Plymouth, Dearborn, Ann Arbor, Downriver. The meeting may happen at either morning, lunch or 4:30.

We need someone to organize a Tiger's outing within 12 days of July 4.

Need someone to coordinate with Dave Biskner about our River Walk.

We would like an east sider to scope out a decent golf course and lead a golf outing late June.

I need a team to support Daniel Ottney with Blightbusters.

Linda and I would love a team to help with Operation Kid Equip.

We would like a west sider to do the same in Mid July.

Need to find people to organize a west North Side and South Side picnic as well.

Most importantly, we want your suggestions on what we can do to make this the best summer Detroit has ever seen!

Wait until you see what we are about to do. Get ready Detroit. We are about to shock you back into an abundant existence.
