Share your Best/Worst investment you ever made...

Hello fellow MCC members!

Given the current economic conditions and the slaughter that's been going on Wall Street lately, I think it's timely to talk about investments. I'm curious to hear, what has been some of your best/worst investments in the past and what did you learn from them.

Also given the sophistication of the average MCC member, how do you get financial advice in this Information Age we live in? Any favorite web sites that you use on a regular basis to help you make smart investment decisions? Do you invest on your own (Sharebuilder, Scottstrade etc.) or do you hire a Financial Planner/Advisor to help you with your investments?

I believe that when we all share our past experiences whether they're positive or negative, we help each other by passing on valuable lessons.
