How about Downtown around the Ren Cen
Marty Nahtygal
We'd love to add one downtown. Which restaurants would you suggest, Marty?
For downtown, I have a couple selections, depending on time of day
Cliff Bells is a popular spot, no food though - would be good for evenings and is a completely restored art deco place, complete with bandstands in the back of the stage. Open City Detroit uses them when they have get-togethers.
In midtown, I strongly recommend the Traffic Jam & Snug. Vegetarian Lasagna and Fried Pickles to die for - and any place that has a giraffe lightpole is sweet in my book. Right across the street from The Bureau of Urban Living, a very cool little shop as well as across from the Motor City Brewing Works. That and parking is free, and they have separate rooms for the MCC thing :-)
I would like to suggest the Traffic Jam on Canfield, near Wayne State University - Detroit
I was chatting with a new MCC member online today who asked "which MCC meeting is better?"
How about the Waterford/Clarkston area?
They recently opened a Buffalo Wild Wings at the corner of M-59 and Crescent Lake and that would be a great place to meet. The Shark Club is a good place also, good food and plenty of space.
Meeting 1 great person at any networking event makes that event a success. My streak of meeting great people at every MCC event is still alive!
Happy Networking!!!
I have never been to a Motor City Connect meeting that I have not met a valuable connection, they are all worth while.
I've only been to 2 - both at Novi and have made VERY VALUABLE connections at both. At the last one I was told by someone that someone else was there ..."for one reason, and one reason only: to see YOU."
I appreciate that, and the warmth of those that I meet there. I always have a good time, and learn something new.
Once my kids go back to school in September, I can start making it to more lunch meetings, which I'm looking forward to!
