Stem cell therapy

Ok, I can't help myself. Surprised I have to discuss this!  My husband has Progressive MS and we have to put on a fund raiser to get him full term babies umbilical stem cell therapy, (estimated $35,000) because it's not offered in the U.S.

Michigan currently has over 570,000 signatures, and we only needed 380,000 and to get it on the ballet in Nov.  I think it's not here in the US yet, because of the lack of education on what it is and what it does.  Everyone seems to associate it with killing unborn babies and that's NOT true.  There are three types: embryonic (from petri- dishes) full term umbilical chord (from already born babies) and adult stem cells (from the patient's own cells.)  Now, aside from the obvious--saving thousands of lives and the quality of their lives-- imagine if Michigan was the ONLY State to research then facilitate it!  Sick people who become healthy could also get off Disability.  Think of what that would do to the economy.  Thousands of U.S. citizens are flying out of the U.S. to get this, instead they'd come to OUR state, use OUR hotels, OUR doctors, OUR restaurants etc.  Any responses to this?Sealed  Am I crazyTongue out or is this obvious?

Oops, I forgot to add this link for everyone re: Michigan. http://www.thedenverchannel.com/health/16820056/detail.html?rss=den&psp=health

Kimberly - My heart is with you on this one!  As I mentioned to you a while ago, my brother has Myasthenia Gravis, which is related to MS. The physical, emotional, and financial devastation is massive and heartbreaking.

We need to do all we can to support and pass this legislation. I signed the petition months ago.

What else, from your standpoint, can MCC members do to assist?

From the article, it sounds like the signing period for the petition is over, yes?  If not, where can we sign?  And I reiterate what Linda asked - what else can we do to assist, both you personally and this legislation?

Spread the word and get people to vote in November on this!!

You don't need to sign the petition, just spread the word and get people to VOTE on this.Laughing  Thanks for ASKING Natalie!

Please vote Yes on this In November.

Stem Cell Therapy can help many of us have a better Quality of Life by finding new ways to treat the diseases that we and our friends and families have.

It is about Life.  Mine, Your husbands, Sisters, sons or daughters.

Our State could be a leader in this field too, with U-M, State, Wayne State, Karmonos.
