We all talk about giving, can you match this?
I saw a Person of the day piece on ABC Evening News a couple of days ago. The person was Kristin Elliot, a Texas teenager. She was diagnosed with cancer when she was 16, she's 18 now. She like many other children with potentially life threatening deseases was approached by the Make-a-wish foundation. They said they would help her realize a dream. She let their offer languish as she battled cancer and refused to let her illness sideline her from making the most of her life.
Last summer doctors became suspicious about some anomalies they spotted on an Xray. Kristin who was scheduled to accompany her mother to Zambia chose to make the trip anyway. They were going to Zambia to educate children orphaned by AIDS, many of the HIV-positive themselves. Shunned by family and not having friends many of the children have nowhere to go.
When Kristin got home she remembered the Make-a-Wish Foundations offer. Faced with her own mortality Kristin refused the offers of lavish vacations or expensive gifts and startled everyone with her request. Kristin is using $2,600.00 seed money from Make-a-Wish to fund an orphanage for the forgotten AIDS orphans in Zambia. She has $8,000.00 and counting. With that kind of spirit I'm sure she will succeed. The orphanage will be called "Kristin Miracle House". Now will anybody dispute that she's the definition of giving?
I found the information about Kristin by searching "Kristin's Miracle House"
By the way gang, we sure could use a few volunteers for the "Blight Busters" event on May 31st. Does anyone have a few hours to give?

This is a great post Duane. I am often equally stunned by people's selfishness and theirs and others selflessness. What an inspiration Kristin is. I thank you for posting this and am grateful to Kristin and people all over the world who do miraculous things for others. It is for that reason we are here.
