Fear and LoA - the national panic
This morning, I read two articles regarding people's increasing fear of the economy. I didn't go looking for them. The topic is in the headlines every day at this point. This national emotion seems to be growing in both frequency and intensity. I would get into what the articles were about, but that's not the point of my post.
The conversation I would like to kick off regards what this means in terms of "Law of Attraction" and other related metaphysical beliefs / teachings.
I have heard it said many a time, that if we want the things we want there are certain steps we must take to manifest them. One of the steps that's almost always mentioned is eliminating fear and negative thoughts. It is said that allowing any fear or negativity into our minds and hearts, no matter how small, will derail the whole process.
So this sounds like it's a pretty important concept. Right? My question is - provided the fear concept is true (with regard to manifestation of our desires) what should we expect to see happen when a nation full of scared people begins to live in fear every day, and to spread that fear through the national conversation?
Will it create so strong a force that no amount of work in the opposite direction can undo it? Is there anything we can do to overcome this wave of negative manifestation? Could the the "industry standard" teaching on fear and pessimism be completely incorrect, or at the least misunderstood?
It should be an interesting process to observe over the coming months, to be sure.

Is fear the strongest emotion? Is faith only the opposite of fear or does faith, in fact, carry more power? Can one person's faith cancel out the fear of two or twelve? I know most of our 401K's are now 201K's, and it's not over yet. I believe the most uniquely, powerful ability we humans possess is the ability to choose. Our will can override our emotions and we can choose to believe "I will survive this, I refuse to participate in the recession." Side note: I've heard Rush Limbaugh saying that for years.
"The culmination of a fear's victory is only when you lose your self confidence "

Instead of seeing fear as a strong or weak emmotion , I notice for most people fear is the easiest emmotion and most people even want to live in it and refuse to get out, some people even get used to it to an extent that they feel its as part of their life.
Unfortunately our country is functioning a lot under fear... in just about every direction right now- right from health, secutrity, finance, trust, relationship...you name it.
Diane:
One person's faith may not cancel out the fear of many but at least it will be an encouragement/hope for the one who is willing to fight the fear !
Opportunity is lost only for the ones who decides to lose...
Strength matters only for the who decided to fight...Now are you seeking strength or are you bonded in fear ?
Diane brings up a critical point - the most powerful ability we possess is the ability to choose....
Mike Dooley of TUT.com has a series of CDs titled "Infinite Possibilities." In one section, he talks about fear as an exceptional opportunity for us to examine ourselves, because underneath our fear is a belief. That belief either bolsters us, or holds us down.
So the question is - what is your fear, and what lies underneath it?
Are you afraid you will lose your job, your home, your IRA, your iphone? Do you have to have those things to love yourself, or to be loved?
You can choose to be miserable about the circumstances of the world, or you can choose to walk through your day with joy for what is good and nurturing in your life despite the circumstances - one is fear, the other is faith. One is limiting, the other is empowering.
What shall we choose tomorrow?
You know its interesting that I don't pay attention to things like recessions. I really don't watch the news, in fact, not even TV. I record one show and I am three weeks behind in recordings.
There is little I can do for a nation in recession. I can only take care of my little corner of the world and know that by doing what I can here, the rest will take care of itself.
