Call for speakers - New meeting locations suggestions
Remember a couple of years ago when MCC put on the 3rd Birthday Bash and we had 36 exhibitors and 30 speakers? Yeah, we are thinking about doing that again. You can skip the rant and hit the other highlighted sections below.
A Quick Rant
Can I be honest with you? I simultaneously find this group a source of inspiration and frustration. As such the energy I put toward it is very sporadic. I would love to do more with it and give more to you all, but I have zero idea how many people even read these messages, let alone visit the group. I know for a fact how many people attend the meetings, and while the right people always show up 30 people out of almost 6,000 isn’t that impressive.
-
I know our LinkedIn Group is huge (over 7,500) -
I know our Twitter following is impressive (over 7900) -
But our Facebook Group, although very active is low in #’s (only 1200) and I get that. Groups are so yesterday on Facebook. - But why is our Facebook Page so low? We have 151 likes and had over 100 on the first day?
Crazy, right? Want to be a part of those networks, then click on the links above.
I ask some variation of the same question in every message…what can WE do for YOU? Why do I ask? Because if you don’t tell us how to help, we can’t help you! Join us here or any of the places you may already be above and let us know what we can do for you.
Call for speakers
While a date has yet to be set (we will have one soon) we are planning another big mosh. Should we include an exhibit? Would YOU like to speak or can you recommend someone? We are interested in topics that positively shape people, their businesses or our community. Sound like any group you know? This e-mail blast is setup as a post under Motor City Connect Experts Speak. Feel free to respond to this post here or hit the site and write in your submissions on the discussion board.
New meeting locations
We are looking to add two more meetings by January. The big debate is WHERE? We will always have Royal Oak. We are considering moving the meeting in Commerce to Novi or Livonia (do you have a preference?) We are also looking at a meeting in Troy, Sterling Heights, Downtown Detroit, Southfield or some other place to be named. What do you think? Where would you like there to be a MCC meeting? Again, please write in on the board or reply to the e-mail.
MCC Live - save the dates
-
MCC Live West Side- Nov 13, 11:30-1:00 Uptown Grill in Commerce. Have an idea on a topic? -
MCC Live Royal Oak- November 27 11:30-1:00 We will discuss the power of gratitude as it pertains to filling your life with all that you seek.
As always, do let us know how we may be of service to you.
Consider yourselves connected-

Terry,
I might be interested in presenting the "Life Remodeled" non-profit I involved with. It gives away new homes, in the Detroit Metro area, to deserving families, and 'remodeles' their neighborhood, too.

Visual IMPACT!
Terry: As usual, great talking with you today on the MCC Mosh (yes, I will be glad to speak), TEDx, 313Dlove and the other topics we covered. Looking forward to speaking again next week.

This is good feedback and great response folks. I guess it all comes down to asking the right questions ;-) Thank you for participating.
As far as speakers go, keep the ideas coming. As I mentioned we will announce the event and structure sometime soon.
As far as locations go, maybe we will rotate either the third week of the month or maybe even the 5th...or the 5th could be a standard Detroit event. There are only about 5 fifth Tuesdays a year and in 2013 one is New Years Eve. We'll figure it out, but feel free to chime in.
Would any of you like to have a bowling party? I've promised my good friend Debbie that we would come check out her space. It doesn't work for lunch but it could work for FUNch. Wait, that's not a word...just FUN!!
Have a great weekend!
Terry
We can do lunch at the Hatter.

You look like you've got plenty of speakers, although our team does a lot of talks for business owners who need some insight on setting digital marketing strategy (like adwords, SEO, SMO, etc).
I'm happy to add the MLive hub in Southfield as a possible meeting location. As our temporary office, it's not terribly large (but nice!), so it would likely work best as a breakfast spot so that we can wrap up before the traffic of writers, sales, and tech folks show up. 8am meetings would work well!
Come to the EAST SIDE!! We have a group that's already established (called MIX: Marketing Idea Exchange) that would love to hook up with MCC!!! Come to the east side!
I am excited to be a part of this network community. Although I am new to MCC, Detroit runs through my blood. It was only a matter of time before we crossed paths.
I happen to be a good speaker and would love an invite to do so. Thanks. Let's Stay connected.
Andrae- I may never have an event again without you speaking at it. I haven't been that impressed in a long time.

The virgil carr downtown is a great place to meet. parking is across the street. Let me know if I can "hook" you up with Oliver Ragsdale for meeting space.
I always plan to come out to your lunches, but Tuesdays always become my "Murphy Law" days. :-(
I'd also love to come out and speak about ebook 101 and how digital downloads can help a business/author increase customer base and relationships.
Hi Terry, I haven't made it to any of the MCC luncheons due to timing and distance -- Livonia or Novi would work well for us.
We're always eager to take the local investing conversation out into the community whenever we can. I can speak about crowdfunding, how to use it, best practices, legislative changes coming in 2013. I can also speak about how each of us can shift some of our capital into the local community through co-op memberships, peer to peer lending, and buy local campaigns. With either of these topics we would share some of the trends and stats fueling the local investing movement.
Also, I'm very interested in seeing Angil Tarach-Ritchey, the RN talking about aging boomers and their affect on society in the coming years. I'll be reaching out to her personally, as that is a topic we would like to bring to our sphere of influence. Thanks for posting this thread or I would not have found her.
Cheers,
Ang
Hello all:
As requested by Terry, I am posting my response to the email blast here:
I have a presentation I've given before entitled "Common sense observations on sales, marketing and business." It's based on blogs I have written over the last few years that use everyday examples from my life as analogies people can use at work (or life, generally). It also indirectly ties into social media and SEO, since that was my original intention behind the blog. However, I am sure you'll get a lot of speakers re: social media (and I couldn't compete with Charlie on that topic, anyway!), so I would focus on the more "folksy" aspect of my presentation. Because I can pick and choose which blog entries to discuss, I can make the presentation run anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour or even longer, if needed. If that sounds like it might work for you, please let me know. Here is the link to my current blog, if you'd like to check it out: www.activerain.com/blogs/acapelli
Thanks, take care,
Andrew Capelli
I do read you posts and I often visit the website. I have a hard time making it to some events due to schedule conflicts. My goal coming into the new year is to schedule these events to attend. I am a Detroit native, graduate of Detroit Public schools and Wayne State University, so I am certainly interested in connecting with more MCC members.
I would like to be considered as a speaker. I can get more information to you once you contact me.
Thank you,
Leah Fairman
I would like to participate as a speaker. I have many topics to help entrepreneurs improve their business and can tailor them to any required time. Please contact me to discuss the potential topics.
If you are looking for a speaker, I could talk about creating a vision and how that can impact your life or business. I am moving my executive coaching pracitce from Pittsburgh to Detroit and hired my own executive coach in Troy who helped me to create my vision. It has had a great impact on my ability to focus and follow through.
Hi, Terry
I'd love to be a speaker for your event. While I have a number of presentations associated with various aspects of face-to-face networking, the most popular is usually "The Three Misconceptions of Networking and How to Avoid Them".
Would also love to reconnect. Haven't seen you since you came to speak at the Ann Arbor Rotary Club.
