FREE Legal Services For Your Startup or Small Business
Had an opportunity at the Open City Detroit meeting last night to hear a bit from Dana Roach, who runs a very interesting program at Wayne State University that is definitely useful in getting more entrepreneurs going in the metro Detroit region.
For businesses needing legal services for business and startups in the region such as:
- Counseling on which kind of business entity is right for you
- Corporate governance documents & organizing resolutions
- Preparing (for non-profits) tax exempt applications
- Reviewing, counseling, negotiating and drafting commercial real estate leases, purchase agreements and loan documents
- Counseling for trademarks, copyrights and preparation of applications.
Now these folks aren't for litigation, as these are 3rd year law students supervised by Dana (a lawyer who is a member of the Michigan bar), but they're actively working to get businesses off the ground by dotting i's and crossing t's for new businesses.
They do want to look at your business plan before they accept you to know you're serious and qualify... but I thought I would pass this along.
This is for businesses that are just getting going or about to start, and can't yet afford a lawyer to draw everything up properly and advise them to the extent they need (as we all know, they can be from $100-$700 an hour).
They're taking clients at every semester.
You can reach Dana at 313-577-3961 or by email: droach (at) wayne (dot) edu
