Referrals, TEDx Detroit, New partner and schedule

I just sent this blast:

It appears as though people are digging the new locations for MCC live events. We had over 20 folks attend yesterday's meeting at Uptown Grill in Commerce. The food was decent, the room was packed and there was a heck of a lot of great discussion. Honestly I saw one member's head light up and levitate off her shoulders when she learned how another member could be of such huge assistance to her. These things happen at every meeting. If you're not attending you don't have to wonder why they're not happening for you.

Referrals

We started down a path about referrals. We talked about several aspects: What would be a great referral, the importance of giving them to others first, how to ask for them clearly, specifically and concisely and so on. Then the conversation took an interesting turn. We started talking about how some people are getting lots of business through Facebook (one guy said he could document $52k in business from it just this year) and how some people don't even use the site at all.

I'm curious, where do you fit in? Are you posting your ASK on your Facebook wall a couple of times a week or at least letting your Facebook "friends" know what you do for your business? Or do you totally avoid it?

TEDxDetroit is 2 weeks away

Some of you made it to TEDxDetroit in 2009. More of you joined us in 2010. I am looking forward to seeing how many of you come out this year. If you attended, will you please take a moment and tell others why you did and what you got from it?

TEDxDetroit will start a fire in the collective bellies of the Detroit area. You will walk out of there believing there is NOTHING YOU CAN'T DO. Will you join us and get your belly lit up too? Go to the TEDxDetroit website to apply for a ticket.

New partners

This may be the moment that MCC jumps the shark (haven't said that in years). We've been running this site for a long time with zero revenue from the online portion. In fact the only money made from MCC is the $7 a head we collect at a live function or if we charge for additional events. I know, not your problem...but it is mine.

To that end, occasionally we will be sharing services from company's we think may benefit our members. If they happen to be shared when you have a need for them, great. We hope you will consider them. If they are submitted at a bad time, maybe you'll save the note and go back to it. If they are something you'll never use, delete it...you know like you do with a lot of these emails ;-)

Messages will be labeled "Partner- and their industry". The message body itself will talk about what they do and how they can help you. Do realize that we are sharing these because we checked them out and know their offering solves a need many members have and are also doing so in an effort to get paid.
