Mike Whelan has passed away
He died Tuesday evening from complications related to heart surgery.
Those of you who knew Mike know what a wonderful spirit this man is. As much good as he did on this plain, I am sure he will do even more in his resting place.
I knew Mike to be a solid technologist, an avid networker and mostly as a man who cared for others. He spent a lot of time helping people keep their heads up while locating meaningful work over the past few years. I know he was very involved with his church and started several ministries to focus on helping job seekers.
He is missed by many and the impact he left will long be remembered. We were better for knowing him.
For those of you who are interested, the Memorial services are this Saturday, August 6 at 11:00 am at Woodside Bible Church in Troy.
Many blessings and positive thoughts to all who are affected by this life who was lifted from us too soon.
With deep sympathy-
Terry

Terry,
Very well said. Mike's way of caring for people was infectious as well as his smile.
We have been blessed to have been a part of his life. Mike's spirit will live within
everyone we knew. My deepest sympathy to his family.

I met Mike 10 years ago in Rich Levinson's Sandler Sales Training, and we became friends right from the start.
Mike was a "giant of a man" in many ways... a teddy-bear type of guy who put everyone at ease within minutes of meeting, always, always true to his word, and always, always, willing to go way beyond the extra mile for anyone and everyone.
It's no wonder his physical heart enlarged and the docs couldn't control his blood pressure -- this man had "a heart" that encompassed the world, way to big to be contained by any human body.
I am so grateful to have been connected to him, and will always remember him fondly.
I was so shocked to hear of Mike's passing.
Mike had so many skills. He was dedicated with helping others through the Career Ministry program in southeast Michigan. Mike will be greatly missed. We have been blessed by his generosity. May we carry on with his spirit as we live our lives.
My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends at this time.

I first met Mike when he had started CTSM. I volunteered to be part of the process of doing a newsletter. The newsletter went out a bi weekly basis which targeted issues of interviewing, resumes, etc.
One aspect of Mike is that he was always concerned about the other person and how they were doing. Knowing how he loved to do discourse, he missed his calling as a priest. He would have been a great social worker, priest, or a counselor.
Farewell, my friend.

I continue to be amazed at how many people I know knew Mike Whelan. I met Mike Whelan networking several years ago and found that we both had a common ministry at our churches.
He created the Career Transition Support Ministries to assist in the efforts of helping people to find jobs by sharing best practices between churches of all denominations. He was always upbeat, helpful, and had a passion for helping people who were unemployed, as well as other networking leaders.
After I heard the news from my good friend Lisa Mininni, I posted a note on Facebook to let others know about his passing and have had several people reach out to me that knew Mike. He touched the lives of so many and was truly a great man.
Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers as they go through this difficult time.
Take care dear friend,

This is terribly sad news to hear. I have been sooo out of the loop for the past year dealing with my own "stuff" (battling cancer and trying to recover from a bad auto accident). I used to run into Mike at so many different networking events and seminars. He was an avid participant and so enthusiastic about everything he did. He would help anyone who asked. . . . and, if they didn't ask, he would offer.
I am truly shocked and saddened by this news, however I appreciate you letting everyone know Terry and other friends of Mike. It makes you stop and appreciate what you still have, even if things are not going so well and people have dropped out of touch.
Many blessings to you all. . .
