Yes, I went. Unfortunately I chose not to go inside on Saturday, simply because of the loooong wait to get inside. Since I was just there to check it out, and am not normally a high end shopper, it wasn't worth it for me. But, it was awesome to see the hustle and bustle up and down Woodward, which definitely spilled over into Grand Circus Park and Campus Martius Park, as the new store is halfway between each.
Also relatively new Downtown is the the Fountain Bistro in Campus Martius Park, and a small convenience store on Woodward Avenue. There is also a new Brazilian restaurant on Woodward, and a new pizza parlor. The new patio outside the Kresge shops cafe new outdoor patio is absolutely beautiful.
Meanwhile, Downtown is becoming alive with renovation construction on a comparable level to what was going on just before the Super Bowl and last financial crisis. Building renovations are ongoing across the entertainment district (Grand Circus Park/Fox Theater), the Financial District (Penobscot Building area), and on The Shopping Circle (Woodward Avenue to Monre, up to Broadway, and then back to Woodward/Park Avenue, forming a triangle). Two new "unique to Downtown"coffee shops, are underway. Actually, the first one, in the Guardian Building lobby shops, is already open. The other is inside the Kresge Shops. The high end coffee shop in the main Kresge Building is taking over the entire first floor retail space.
Thanks for the nice post with links to some of the new , upcoming and interesting places in Detroit. I will be visiting some of them for sure !
