MEDICAL ASSISTANT/SCHEDULER NEEDED - DETROIT
Our client Michigan Pediatric Surgery Center in Detroit, is in need of a Medical Assistant/Scheduler. This is a full time temp-perm position. Pay $12/or more for the right candidate. JOB TITLE MEDICAL ASSISTANT / RECEPTIONIST
Reports to: Office Manager
Physical Requirements: Employee must have sufficient manual dexterity to operate a keyboard, multi-line telephone, copier, fax, and other office equipment. The position will vary from extended periods of sitting to a highly ambulatory pace. Some bending and stretching will be required. This position requires normal range of hearing and eyesight as well as the ability to communicate with other employees, patients, insurance companies, and physicians.
Mental Requirements: Employee must understand vague and implicit instructions and react favorably in all work situations. Must be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people and be able to exercise initiative, judgment, and problem-solving skills.
Performance Requirements: Knowledge of billing, insurance practices, and procedures, as well as, regulations including Medicare, Medicaid, managed care, and third-party insurance companies.
Working Conditions: Employee may be required to work overtime. Work in a typical medical office setting.
PRIMARY DUTIES STANDARDS
Answering phones, direct calls to be answered by the third ring calls, take messages, transfer calls as necessary with chart or documentation as needed
take message for employees not available and deliver ASAP
Charts pulled and message attached, messages recorded on duplicate message pad for permanent record
Scheduling appointments New patients to be scheduled in soonest convenient date
Mail New Patient Packet to family ASAP
Follow established protocol for patient priority for appointments
If rescheduling is required due to physician, notify patient ASAP
Prepare clinic charts Charts prepared the day prior to scheduled appointment
Dr. Lakshmanan to review charts the day prior to his scheduled clinics
Miscellaneous filing obtained/printed and filed in chart
Confirmation calls made 2 days prior to scheduled appointment
Greet patients and obtain Family must be greeted promptly in a courteous, friendly manner
New patients, or those not seen in the last 6 months, must complete new patient information
Form and signatures must be obtained
Insurance cards and/or referrals received at each visit for each insurance policy
Verify pediatrician and address each visit
Prepare chart/patient for Billing and insurance information must be verified prior to each visit
Physician visit Appropriate new patient forms or progress note completed in chart
Update patient demographics prior to visit with physician
Assist patient to exam room
Interview patient/family, measure vital signs and record information in chart
Assist with Urodynamics procedures
Notify physician/nurse patient is ready
Provide patient education as instructed by physician, nurse, resident
Schedule surgery, tests, labs, schedule as instructed by physician, nurse, resident
Patient check out Inform family of date, instructions, directions, etc
Verify insurance information when scheduling
Collect co-pay/deductible as required for procedures
Inform Boarding Secretary of scheduled procedures
