Director of Technology & Production

An LED company, which designs, engineers, manufactures and assembles light emitting diode (LED) lighting fixtures to meet the emerging energy standards for industry and government, is seeking a Director of Technology and Production. 

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

o    Develop new LED luminaire (Fixture) designs and specifications

o     Manage product development, testing and certification (i.e. UL, LM79, Energy Star,etc.)

o     Launch Production

o     Manage product engineering and production department

o     Maintain current information about competitive products

o     Generate and Manage supply chain

o     Develop budgets forecasts

o     Develop production schedules

o     Manage product inquiries from sales team

o     Generate reports to management

o     Stay current on recent technology advances

o     Develop industry network

Key Qualifications (essential knowledge, skills, and abilities):

o     A minimum of 5 to 7 years of directly-related experience, demonstrating increased responsibilities; at least 2 years in a Lead design role

o     LED application engineering skills and experience

o     Ability to plan and implement product launch

o     Thorough understanding of solid state engineering process controls and audit procedures

o     Industry network of vendors and suppliers

o     Ability to thrive in a rapid paced environment and perform under pressure

o     High level of integrity, excellent reputation in the market and self-motivated intitator

o     Supervisory/management experience

o     Experience in working with sales team

o     Flexible in adjusting to current priorities

o     Creative approach to problem solving

o     Understanding of cost control accounting methods

o     Local travel, as needed.  Infrequent travel (quarterly) to conferences. 

Education:

• Required - Masters degree in electronic, engineering and/or certification (ex. Certified lighting designer)


• Preferred - PHD
