Dream, Dream, Dream
Recently read "The Dream Giver" by Bruce Wilkinson for the third time. It is the book I pull out when things get tough in business and I need a reminder that following a dream is not easy, nor should it be.
How many of us recognize the dream we were given early in life? How many of us have ignored that dream to "Be Reasonalble" and take the easy way? How many of us try to bury that dream but can't?
My life as an Engineer was fulfilling and fun most of the time. I can consider more than half of my 20 years as great experience and enjoyable. Then the dream of owning my own business started to emerge. For years I worked at a full time job thinking daily about what it would be like to be my own boss and build a sccessful businss. January 15, 2008 I got that opportunity when my position was eliminated. Off I went to start a new chapter, to "Chase my dream".
It has been a difficult and challenging journey the last 2 1/2 years. I could not have imagined how hard it would be to do it...yet I can not imagine going back. Once you have tasted the sweet water of freedom it is impossible to go back.
The struggles are worth the effort. The rewards are great (not always financial). The journey is worth the pain.
"The Dream Giver" is a great story about a person who goes on his own journey of discovery and finds success at the end of the trip...only to discover that there is a bigger dream to chase after that.
Find your own dream. Follow your own passion. Find the courage to chase it till you succeed.
