We're lucky. We get to have a say in our political process. Yet only 10% of our eligible voters turn out to cast their vote in a primary election. The good news is that the people who show up to the polls wield greater influence.
In addition to the political party primaries, there are several proposals on the ballot. In Oakland County, there's an important Oakland County Parks mileage renewal on the ballot. You do not have to declare a party to vote on the non-partisan issues.
Take a few minutes out of your busy day to exercise your rights. Your country, state and county thanks you.

I was off today so I went down to my precinct about 1:15. I was the only person there. Literally. I know it was midday, but I've never seen it so empty. Please if you are registered to vote make time and vote today! It's the only way our democracy will truly work.
Besides, as my mother always says, "If you don't vote, don't complain." In order to have the right to complain you must exercise your right to vote. As Charlie mentioned it's not just the primaries today - almost every county has important initiatives on the ballot as well.
Using social media to rock the vote.
Make sure you check-in on your favorite social networks when you check off you ballot. Cross post to linkedin, twitter, facebook and foursquare. Encourage your friends to vote. Promote your favorite candidates and proposals.
Amplify you vote with social media. You just might change the election and that just might change the world.
I would be a lot happier if there were a better selection of quality candidates to choose from. Pretty pathetic here in Macomb County. . . .except for Mark Hackel :)
I hear you Raven. Many of the candidates on the primary in my district were unopposed. It is frustrating, but I made it a point to go anyway. I figure the governor's race is important, and I figured even if I just voted in that it would be worth the time to go in and do it. It took less than 5 min, too.
I already went out and voted, which is why I'm frustrated. They don't allow you to vote anything but the straight party ticket and I have always voted for who I feel is the best candidate. . . .regardless of party or how I am registered. Sooooo. . . .I had to leave some blank spaces, since I will not vote for the ones I do not care for. I thought about writing in my cat in some spots. . . he is WAY smarter than many of these candidates. After all. . . he does a fine job ruling the household :)
Your cat and my cat should run together. I'm sure they could do a better job than some already in office. :D
Now that sounds like a plan! He is already CEO of my pet business and he has his own FB page, so why not?! And my dog is President of R&D. With your cat, we have a team! Their priorities are way more in line with how things should be. . . .eat, sleep, purr, surround yourself with good "staff" (dogs have owners. . . cats have staff. . .)
