Put your face in Fast Company
Are you fast? Are you influential?
Have you heard about Fast Company’s Influence Project yet? It’s quickly becoming one of the most clicked sites on the internet and one of the most maligned sites on the internet.
Click here to visit the Fast Company Influence Project.
Fast Company’s stated goal is to find “2010’s Most Influential Person on the Internet.” In the two days since its launch 6000 people have joined. The prize? Fast Company will feature the photographs of the participants in its November issue.
Critics have called it nothing more than an ego stroke and a complete waste of time. Supporters think it’s a interesting social experiment and a fun contest. I think they’re both right. I also think it’s an example of brilliant marketing on Fast Company’s part (I recorded a quick video blog on the topic here).
At the end of the day, it fulfills one of my egotistical entrepreneurial dreams – sure it’s not ringing the opening bell on the New York Stock Exchange or having a woodcut photo in the Wall Street Journal – but getting your photo in Fast Company is still pretty cool.
I’m happy to lend my ugly mug to the November issue. I hope to see your smiling face too.
See you at an upcoming MCC networking lunch or at Blood, Sweat & Gear on August 12, 13 & 14.
