That was really inspiring! Thanks for posting.
Glad you enjoyed it, Alison!
He mentioned "The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho (Kway-low).... I haven't read it yet, but have read quite a bit about him and the book - so it's no my "must read" list.
Happy Weekend!
Linda
This was great, everyone should look at this. Wow!
Pass it on, Cassly!
I've been a fan of his since 1988 when the hit song Parents Just Don't Understand came out. As a rapper, he was always positive and didn't sink to cussing (in fact, I was talking about the fact last night. He has one song I'm aware of with the word B*tch in it and it talks about a lady who crashed his car). Let me share a couple of my favorite lyrics with you:
My father always told me if I hang with 9 broke friends I'm bound to be the 10th one.
So many zeroes on my check it says 000000000000000 (pronounced ewwwwww)
No plan B it distracts from plan A (you heard that in the video)
And my favorite, favorite:
Ecclecticism is a virtue. It may not be a word, but it is definitely a virtue.
As a TV star, the Fresh prince of Bel Air was and is a joy to watch.
As a movie star he is absolutely off the charts. He's a great action star, he's funny and he has great range for drama too. Take a look at the work he has coming in addition to what he has done HERE.
When asked who inspires me, Will Smith is always at the very top of my list.
Thanks for sharing this Linda. It was awesome!
Two of his films that I thought were absolutely awesome did not get the credit they deserved: The Pursuit of Happyness, and Seven Pounds.
Both totally magnificent, both profound in their own way.
And Will was phenomenal - particularly in Seven Pounds.
Pass it on, Terry !
Linda
It's already been passed Linda. It's on my Facebook fan page and has been tweeted from there. Loved it.
I really liked the movie Hitch as well. The man has a lot of talent and we now know how he gets all his skillz too. Thanks again.
Terry - I have a list of four "must read" books by Paulo Coelho - we should talk about getting a book group started.
That's not a bad idea Linda- we have that great bookshelf already set up here on MCC.
Speaking of, Barnes and Noble just shipped the Mutant Messenger Down Under today.
I have not read The Alchemist and have the 5th Mountain waiting to be read. Both seem like books that if I sat still long enough could write myself...although not as eloquently to be sure.
I'm reading "the Big Leap" by Gay Hendricks.
Next up: "How to Think Like Leonardo DaVinci" by Michael Gelb,
On Deck:
"The Diamond Cutter" by Geshe Michael Roach
"How to Stop Worrying and Start Living" by Dale Carnegie
The Big Leap is one to take time with - not a quick read - although it could be for some folks, but he's talking about going really deep, and that's not for the faint of heart, you know.
I have a list of the top 100 books of all time (thanks to Brian Johnson of Philosopher's Notes). We should look at the list and see who has what and what can be borrowed!
Happy Weekend, my friend -
Linda
He is totally the Bad Boy! Everything he does is fab!
Linda, I've got a stack of books to share. Post the list of what you are looking fore. Right now I'm reading Infinite Possibilities from Mike Dooley.

This was great! I tweeted it!
Hi Teri! Don't you just LOVE Mike Dooley? I have the CD version of Infinite Possibilities.
I also have a list of 100 books to read, from www.philosophersnotes.com -- many of which I have in my library but have not read or it's been a lot of years since I did.
Linda,
We should start a book club. Pick a book everyone reads it and get together to discuss it. Didn't the Kingston Trio have a song "Hang Down Your Head Mike Dooley"?
Hi Greg! I would love to start a book club as you suggest... can't do it till mid-March, when I am done with chemotherapy, but if you want to discuss how to put it together at that point, I'm in.
The song was "Hang down your head TOM Dooley" but I appreciate the humor!
Happy Tuesday!
Linda
