ILYTP
Good Morning,
It has been awhile since I have referred to sports in any of my messages and I suppose I am over due for a sports story. Last Friday night I was witness to the first "no-hitter" thrown by a San Francisco Giants pitcher in 33 years. Now the Giants are loaded with fabulous pitchers this year and there are at least three who would surprise no one if they threw a no-hitter. So you can imagine the surprise when it was one of there "other" pitchers who actually accomplished the feat.
To be factually accurate it was probably the one guy on their staff who you would least expect to pitch such a game. In fact he has been so bad this year that the Giants had demoted him to the bull pen and have been actively looking to trade him to another team for the past month. In a touching side note, this kid (he is 26) had his father in the crowd who had never seen him pitch in the major leagues. Anyway, when he was demoted, this athlete could have sulked and cursed his bad luck but instead he sought out advice from others. He took the opportunity to work on his game and to be as ready as he could be should he be given another chance to pitch.
So here is the point! If you noticed the title of the article you may be wondering what it means. It is actually an acronym (we here at Title Connect are famous for them). This particular acronym was given to me by a very good friend who has spent years giving others (including me) support and encouragement. What it stands for is "In Life Your Tenacity Pays!" This is what Jonathan Sanchez exhibited when things were not working for him...ILYTP.
Look, we all get discouraged at times; we all feel as though things are not going according to plan (a sales call that did not go well); we all have doubts and insecurities (Is this deal ever going to close?). The thing that separates those who succeed (and end up throwing no-hitters) from the rest of the crowd is our tenacity; that "I will not quit or give up" attitude that gets me, and you, through the tough times. So the next time an obstacle appears, remember "ILYTP". You never know, you may end up throwing your own "no-hitter."
Have a great week. Mary
