Lots of events, Great trainings and a note on Freedom
I just sent this blast:
I live about 200 yards off of Sylvan Lake and we were treated to some AWESOME fireworks last night (not sure why they chose Sunday, July 5 but that's a different story). While I personally find it odds that we celebrate our nation's freedom by blowing a small piece of it up (Simpson's line) I am grateful for that freedom. We should exercise it often, as long as it doesn't cause pain to anyone else if we do. What are your favorite 4th of July activities either from this year or year's past? Hello to everyone on the thread. My favorite thing to do on the 4th of July has been to find fireworks to take the family to. I usually go to the Orchard Lake Country Club with the family and we sit on the lawn and watch the show. It has always been spectacular!! This year I did not have the chance beacuse most of my kids had something else to do. Instead, my wife and I went to a friends house in Holly and enjoyed a great rib dinner followed by cocktails by the bonfire in the back yard. We heard fireworks all around but did not see any.
As a part of the Blood, Sweat & Gear planning committee, I had the opportunity to tour the Blight Busters headquarters during our second meeting. In a word, I was blown away by the power of a few people with a vision and the energy to attract positive change.
We did a short walking tour and witnessed first hand how Blight Busters is changing the local community. Once where a crack house existed, now hosts a community garden. Once an alley way with crack heads and prostitutes, now a outdoor sanctuary with colorful murals.
Seize the opportunity to attend the July 15th networking meeting at the Blight Busters headquarters and experience the walking tour for yourself. I guarantee you will be inspired! (Look for details on the calendar...I'm sure it will show up there soon...right Terry?)
I had an awesome day with the "InSights Enthusiasts" who celebrated the Fourth with the community of Brighton. You can read more about it HERE.
