PASSION, Employment and Martha Stewart's speech at the Ren Cen
I just sent this blast:
I'm not much of a cook. I don't have a garden. I decorate things with all the flare befitting a minimalist and yet I was still interested to see her. Why? Because she is a highly successful business person who came to Detroit to talk about that. She shared the key to her success...
PASSION. You could hear it throughout her presentation. Martha has built a HUGE empire based on the things that she loves most in life- cooking, entertaining, gardening, interior design. Her stories and presentation were filled with her love and authenticity. That made the day great. I would like to thank and congratulate Inforum for such an outstanding event. I hope you all were aware of the event- it is important to read some of these notes ;-) BTW, they have a great one coming up June 8. While Martha's passion helped to inspire this note, it was a request from my friend Allison that had me send this from the "employment" section. There are lots of people around here who are in the process of "reinventing" themselves. As you do this, figure out what would get you fired up to get to work on Monday and every other day. Have you ever kicked off the sheets ready for the day? Martha Stewart knows what does this for her. Most of the people with whom I hang out know what it is for them (and they are happy as all get out). Do you know what it is for you? If not, when would NOW be the right time to figure it out? I know it takes time to find a way to turn your passion into revenue and we all have bills to pay. With that in mind I request that if you know of a company hiring you post that info here. Tell us the business name, type of position and the rest will take care of itself. Also feel free to upload your resume and tell us what kind of job you seek. The employment section is here for you to use, please do so. We all need to be working together to get through this. And get through this we will! Be connected- Terry Bean Tired of getting these message? We will miss you, but you can easily remove yourself from Motor City Connect by going to the "My Settings" tab on the site and clicking "remove me from this groupsite". An alternate approach would be to let us know what we can do for you and see how powerful this network really is ;-) |

Terry, I loved this post!!! That is truely what people need: PASSION!!! I am so blessed, everyday that I kick off the sheets, I so look forward to the day and what opportunities will arise, what I will learn and what "awesome" people will be put in my path. I love my business, I love Mary Kay for the training, positiveness, and the core values they teach and hold in such high esteem. As you can tell, I LOVE MY JOB!!!
Passion makes ALL the difference. I can handle doing just about anything for a while to help pay the bills, but only when it's a temporary stepping stone to the final goal.
When you're doing what you love and believe in, you never count the minutes until the day is over. Instead, you wish you could squeeze more hours out of the day.
Thanks for the reminder.
