Meetings not producing actions/results. Feel like you meet with your team just to meet?
Give this a try in your next meeting.
Create a list of all the issues, problems, concerns, opportunities, barriers etc that you are faced with at your next meeting. (on one sheet of paper or white board)
Then Prioritize 1, 2 and 3 (this should take no more than 30 seconds) decide what are the most important items are that you need to get solved prior to the end of your meeting. (Never work it from the top down - sometimes the biggest issue is on the bottom.)
Once you have prioritized the top 3... take number 1 and really identify what the issue is. Make sure that everyone around the table is clear on what you are about to discuss (what might happen is the stated issue is sometimes a symptom of a bigger issue. So you may have to dig to make sure that you are solving the problem and not a symptom.) Once clear move to discuss. Everyone say what they have to say about the issues once and only once because more than that you are Politicking! Be open and honest! Once everyone has said what they have to say move to solve the problem. When you are clear on what the issue is and the vision for the organization is clear the answer is always very simple. Although it is sometimes hard because the action in solving the problem involves people. Once you have it solved make sure you follow through with the action item. Hold yourself accountable!
Once you have solved issue number 1 move to number 2. Remember Identify, Discuss, Solve (IDS)
This will help you gain Traction and help you have a much more productive meeting.
