Seeking an HR position in metro-Detroit

I was laid off last week and am in search of a HR position in the metro-Detroit area. Ideal positions would be HR Specialist, Rercruiting Supervisor/Manager, or consultant. I'd also be interested in branching out into a college/university setting doing Career Advising. Does anyone know of positions like these?
Many thanks!!

Have you considered joining HRAGD - the Detroit SHRM Chapter? They have a Career Management Group - a job club - for HR people in transition as well as a local HR job bank. Check them out at www.hragd.org
Laura,
A company called Burtek in I think in Clinton Township on Patricia St is a Defense contractor and is "always" having turnover issues which means they are always hiring. Google them and select the company that builds specialty military vehicles. It is a good place to work, they treat you well, pay is good with benefits. They are at 21 & Gratiot Ave. if I remember correctly. Maybe as HR you could help end the turnover problem they seem to be plagued with.

I find it interesting when someone uses the following in the same sentence, " X company is a good company even though they have a lot of turnover issues." Isn't that an oxymoron? How can a company be that good if people are jumping ship at the speed of light? When a company has a high turnover rate, or even more surprising a super low one, it is cause to take measure. A high turnover rate is indicative of an organization that may not value its more important asset; human capital. A low turnover rate is indicative of the same thing, a company who doesn't value its employees enough to deal with the tough issue, i.e low performance, no perfomance, "C" players. Keep this in mind when job hunting.
