My girlfriend (Rachel) is an aspiring elementary education teacher but is having a hard time finding jobs in MI.
Looking to connect with superintendents/current element around the Royal Oak Area to connect with.
Can anyone help?

place an ad on Craig's list and tutor! she'll get so much out of it in addition to $$...with finals just around the corner, she can pick up work in just about any city of choice.
Is Royal Oak the only school district she's interested in? If not, I know the superintendent in Pontiac. Or substitute teaching would be an option...i think she could make like $90/$100 a day.

I would love to teach video editing in the Pontiac Public Schools as a pilot course from my company. Do you think this is something the superinttendant would be interested in as an afterschool program, summer deal or something like that? :) I know its a little off the main topic but we have been thinking about it for awhile and are just a little unsure as to how to get it started.
Lynell, I can find out! I know that the budget for after-school programs are very low, almost non-existent. I'm not sure if this is the case for Oakland County Schools, but in Detroit to provide any program/service, you need to be a registered "Supplemental Education Service Provider (SESP)". I will find out if there's money and what's the process...get back to you by the end of the week.
@rhonda She does tutoring already for some kids she works with at the school she used to student teached at.

Chris, I don't presently sub, but I have in the past with Southfield Public Schools.
What do you teach? Younger or Older?
I taught high school (all subjects)...pretty cool for $100 a day!

Limiting herself to the Royal Oak area is the equivelant of not finding a job period. My son has a HS History degree and is teaching in Florida. The hot spots right now are Las Vegas, the Carolinas, Arizona.
Tutoring is OK but it isn't a living...
