Promoting Your Company During a Recession
Companies who maintain or increase their promotional efforts in a recession come out of the recession stronger, with higher brand recognition and way ahead of competitors.
Throughout the history of recessions (I've been through many of them in the 37 years of KelseyPromo), there have been many examples after the recession of the stronger companies being the ones who still promoted during the recession. The weakest companies are the ones who cut off their marketing efforts during the recession and when times were good again, they were behind the competition, their brand was not as well known and they were playing catchup.
Just had a customer, going through the hard times like the rest of us, decide to close their marketing department. What's going on? Marketing is the life blood of a company... closing the department does not make any sense except to an accountant. To a small, medium or even a large company, this could be the death blow. We'll see where they are at a year from now.
Our strongest clients are realizing that they need to increase budgets for promotions and marketing at times like this, especially in the Motor City.
