Looking for Next Opportunity - GIS, Publishing & More
Hello everyone,
I just received Terry Bean's post from MCC talking about the networking opportunites of the site. I have to admit I just heard about MCC website from the Walsh College Job Search Strategies seminar a couple of weeks ago and I'm still discovering "the power" of this site.
I have to admit that I am VERY glad to be back in north after a year in Huntsville, Alabama, regardless of the recent sub-zero temperatures. I'm just a rust-belt kind of guy, I guess.
So, since relocating, I've been on the search for employment in Detroit and not making a lot of headway. My background is primarily in printing and publishing after 14 years of employment with Rand McNally & Co. in Chicago working on digital cartographic (GIS) databases. Most recently, working with Department of Defense contractor, Intergraph in Huntsville building maps of things I can't talk about. :-)
So, a link is worth a thousand words...

If anyone has suggestions or leads that sound as if they are relevant to my situation, I am eternally appreciative.
Best Wishes,
Doug

Doug,
As Terry Bean suggested, the MCC calendar provides ample venues to meet people who could connect you to your next career opportunity. In addition, below are a few other career related networking opportunities:
Various church sponsored career network: Go to http://www.ctsministries.org/ for a listing
Execunet: Go to www.ExecuNet.com. Meeting are generally the second Monday of the month.
Please feel free to contact me to discuss specifics of these opportunities or other issues.
