One Last Call, Is it worth it?

Today was a slow day for me. I made about 70 calls and sent out 20 emails. I got one negative reply informing me that my potential client was heading in another direction. I was bummed for a second till I reminded myself that I just eliminated a drag on my time and now I have a little more time to spend on the live ones in my pipeline. Eliminate the negative and fill the void with the positive.

Later today I was starting to drag. I decided to call it a day. As per my method of operation I made my one last call, the one I always make after I've already written the day off and what happens more often than I expect it, proved to be the one that made my day. I have the opportunity to work on a very large deal. Isn't it funny how that one last appointment, that one last call more often than not bears the most fruit.

Maybe after a long day of work we are stressed. Maybe calling it a day takes the pressure off. Maybe with the pressure off and a what the heck attitude we are more natural and at ease and more confident on the call and with that the potential client feels comfortable sharing the real opportunities with us.

One last call. I always make one.

Just a thought

You say "just a thought..." Duane, but what a profound thought it is - -

Perhaps we should "write the day off" at 8 a.m., and hold that "what the heck" attitude for whatever 8 or 10 or 12 hours we invest in our work!

You rock!
