Change

Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.

It does not matter one bit who you voted for, Obama is our new President and it is in the best interest of all that we back the man. We are at a point where action has to replace good intentions. It's up to us to make this administration know what really matters. I think they have some good ideas, but the voice of the people can go a long way toward fine tuning the concepts. Don't let the opportunity pass, be heard!

Love it. This is a nice variation of Keith's other favorite quotation- "Be the change you wish to see in the world"- Ghandi

Although I sent an e-mail about the big day yesterday, I was careful not to share my thoughts. So I shall share them here.

I am happy, hopeful and believe that great things can happen. Not just because of the man, but because we as a country are ready for it. It's time. We have been in pain for too long. The healing needs to begin. And it begins when we look at one another through the eyes of love.

January 20, 2009 was a day where people saw a nation come back together. How many people actually watched any of the inaugaration without tears? Those tears were of Hope. They were of Joy. They were the promise of good things to happen.

President Obama is leading us, but those changes can not happen unless we all make the change in ourselves. That internal change is both infectious and magnetic. Meaning, it spreads to others AND attracts others to you. You'll be amazed at the quality of people in your life when you CHOOSE to make that change.

You can not change your outside perceptions without first changing your internal reality.

If you need help, ask. If you are already there, share. We need to ride this boat together or sink trying. Hop on board, there's plenty of room for you.

One love.

You know the thing that struck me the most in his Inaugural speech?  How he talked about that we ALL got us into this mess, and it's going to take us ALL to get out of it.  The time has passed for us to point fingers and blame "the other".  It's now time for us all, as a nation, to grow up, to get to work, and to be responsible.

Now THAT'S something worth getting behind!

MySpace Celebrity and Katalyst present The Presidential Pledge

I am not sure if anyone has seen this but it was on the Impact Channel on Myspace. I am not a big fan of Myspace but it took a phrase from Obama's Inauguration speech and used it to motivate people to be the change we want to be in the world..(Ghandi) I am not a huge fan of celebrity endorsements but this was really good and I think it is the message that Obama was looking for.

The entire speech moved me - particularly this part:

As for our common defense, we reject as false the choice between our safety and our ideals. Our Founding Fathers, faced with perils we can scarcely imagine, drafted a charter to assure the rule of law and the rights of man, a charter expanded by the blood of generations. Those ideals still light the world, and we will not give them up for expedience's sake.

Did you know that President Obama's Chief Speechwriter, Jon Favreau, is just 27 years old? (any relation, Jamie?) He is the youngest Chief Speechwriter in the history of American Politics... and a shining example of why those of us "of a certain age" should be applauding and learning from the MCC "Under 30" Group!

Hi Linda,

No he isn't related.  I WISH... how much would that rock if he was a long lost cousin in the White House.

I read in a blog about election time that John Favreau is only 27 years old.  I also read something about how he is used to working in a small room with the other team members and living with a few roommates in Chicago and how they wore jeans and t shirts and now they are wearing suits and have an office.

I was quite intrigued  with him once I found out his last name and that he is only 27 years old.

I belive in order to get an outstanding result , it takes "Vision -> Research -> Strategy ->Plan -> Right Resources -> Right execution (DotSign's Process Philosophy)

We all may be  familiar with the vision of our President to some extent but one thing for sure , he has got an excellent resource for his speeches and the on top of it Obama's execution makes it the best !
