I thinks its a common trend for people new to the netwoking scene to get overwhelmed by everything going on with MCC. Sometimes its hard to know even where to start!

Any tips for the newest person onto MCC?

I may have a couple for you Robert.

1st off Welcome to MCC. I am sure you will find lots of folks willing to assist you in your endeavors.

Tips:

1. Nice job filling out your profile. Every once in a while (week or two) add a personal objective. Not only will this tell us how we can help you, it will display on the home page and remind us you are here. A personal objective can be your ASK (the person or company you want to meet) or any initiative you are trying to move forward.

2. Come to the meetings. We have several throughout the month. Check the calendar for the ones most convenient to you.

3. Join the discussions. With over 1400 conversations, there is bound to be one or two that are right for you.

4. Attend the goals seminar on January 12 (see the calendar for specifics).

5. I know a guy who does some pretty awesome training/coaching in the networking space. I can hook you up with him if you want to learn more.

Great question Robert. Why did it take you a month to ask ;-)

Be Connected-

Terry Bean

This is a bit disengenuous, Terry.

"I know a guy who coaches in networking?"

YEAH...no kidding.

Come on, buddy, 'fess up.  Robert could take a few more months to ask, if you don't tell him it's you!

LOL.

Robert --- Terry can really help (and I bet he will...)

Hugs and good luck to you, both.

Welcome, Robert!

Creating a clear profile is the first step, and you're already there - so congrats!

Plan to attend the MCC Auburn Hills luncheon on Tuesday, January 20th (check it out on the calendar). I am the "facilitator" of the AH meeting, so find me in the crowd and I'll be sure to give you a hearty welcome and any assistance you need.

You can use the "search" option (located above your own photo, on the right side of the home page) to find a variety of things. Since your focus is on the Rochester/Rochester Hills/Auburn Hills area, you can put those terms in and get a list of MCC members who have included those terms in their profiles - - which may be a "start" in getting to know some of the wonderful people here.

As Terry said, chime in on discussions that interest you - or start a new one of your own. Some are totally business related, but those that draw the most response and interest are generally not - check out Charlie Wollborg's "7 Things You Didn't Know About Me" Thread as a great example.

Buy Terry Bean a cup of coffee - MCC is his brainchild, and his networking training/coaching is world renowned (the world, of course, being SE Michigan).

Looking forward to meeting you -

Linda Angér

Robert,

Here are a few ideas to add to the networking list:

1) Networking is about making connections, rather than selling.

2) Be specific. Whether online or in-person, your ASK should be as specific as possible (person, title, company, why you would like to meet him/her)

3) Attitude of service. First find out how you could help the person you are speaking to. If you are interested in helping them, they will be interested in helping you.

Thanks for getting involved. By the way, how can we help you?

Hi Robert!  I think MCC is brilliant and am here to welcome you AND . . . I feel like YOU need to follow YOUR interests and what WORKS and feels best for you.  If you're an Internet guy-- join discussions, but don't feel you SHOULD do anything no matter what you are told or strongly advised to do.  Taste test a few meetings, a few discussions and a networking event IF that is something that could potentially help you or bring you joy in some way.  I get over 200 e-mails a day and only open the MCC newsletters when a topic hits me just right or when I have extra time.  It should NEVER be an obligation, but an exciting place to grow your business, friendships and yourself.  So, my advice is don't listen to TOO much advice, (LOL!) but notice what makes YOU love MCC!

Kimberly

WOW! thanks a lot guys!

Terry, I  thought you may be holding out on me when I keep getting those emails and updates from you. Thanks for the help!
