What do you think, is this going to be enough and are you comfortable buying an American car? Will you support thr U.S. automakers with a purchase?

It is a start - and now it is up to GM, Chrysler, and the UAW to prove whether their pudding has substance or not.
While the UAW and all the automakers got reemed in the press for their flights in the private jets. There is a Yahoo story that talks about how much money was spent by the banks and AIG for their jets. Talk about a double standard. I wish that they didn't lower the middle class because they feel it would be a great thing to do.

I agree that they all need a new business MODEL but to kill the auto industry and NOT put the banks and insurance companies under the same scrutiny should be a crime.
I own an American made car and I am NOT able to purchase one right now. If I had the money I would. Does that count?
Duane, How about asking your question from a different viewpoint? Do you feel right about buying a car where the profits go overseas? I mean no disrespect, moreover I want to challenge people from another perspective.
Why do we promote buying Michigan-made products at MCC? Because they are better? Because they create Michigan jobs? Because they create Michigan jobs? Because they help the Michigan economy? Because it is the right thing to do?
MCC promotes supporting Michigan-owned companies for all those reasons regardless of whther the products are better or not.
The cars being manufactured in Michigan's factories are high-quality, fuel efficient vehicles that create Michigan jobs and help the Michigan economy. Sure you can point to wonderful vehicles coming from companies based in Japan, Germany, Korea, and elsewhere just as I can point to my GMC Safari with 175,000 and still starts first time without hesitation. Sure you can point to high-mileage vehicles designed in Europe or the Orient -- but so can the Big 3.
I have never owned a foreign built or designed vehicle. Maybe I am old-fashioned or out of touch. I just don't feel right not supporting our auto industry knowing the UAW and Big 3 are working together better than they ever have in the past; or knowing that the Big 3 are designing some very exciting new cars with outstanding fuel efficiency; or seeing in my mind the faces of the children whose life is better because of the solid job their parent(s) have working in the physically challenging factory jobs that put food on tabletops throughout Michigan and all of North America.
