The Coffee Lover's Coffee House - Mercury Coffee Bar
I had the good fortune of working for part of the afternoon at the Mercury Coffee Bar in Corktown (near Slows and Michigan Central Station on Michigan Avenue, just past old Tiger Stadium).
Had an amazing double espresso latte, and the baristas are more than knowledgeable, the ones I ran into were coffee experts, as if being a barista was a career for them. It was hot but not too hot to drink, as espresso should be consumed almost immediately if possible; and had a very smooth, almost nutty taste.
The decor would be appreciated by anyone who likes modern design - great angular counters, stainless steel bar-style seating along the windows. I only grabbed a couple OK photos with my phone (which I then compressed to save space on the MCC server), but I thought I'd share the place with you all.

I have visited Mercury Coffee Bar a few times now, and it is FABULOUS!! The decor is a shot of espresso itself, and the baristas ARE very knowledgeable. The uniqueness of the coffee, the process of the brewing, as well as the food menu are definitately noteworthy! I would recommend (and actually have recommended) this venue to anyone who can appreciate coffee, Detroit, and originality! I look forward to watching them prosper!
What kinds of food do they have there? I am just wondering because I am NOT a coffee drinker but a neat new place to go on a date would be just as cool.
