Charlie:
We have a tradition at our house, where, regardless of what has happened over the course of the year, we take a moment prior to breaking bread and circle the table sharing with one another what each of us is most thankful for in the past year. I have seen many participants break down in tears while sharing. I will be sure to add this little nuance to the discussion this year...

Great message and not just on Thanksgiving. Let's continue to do this for the next year where things invaribly will be more challanging and the media will exploit it for a good news story.
Happy holidays!
Excellent message, Charlie!
I am thankful to be part of this group and to be around people like you who inspire me immensely! I hope to meet you in person one of these days. Take care.
Have a great holiday, veryone!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Just as the song suggests, focus on your "favorite things" and then its hard to feel so bad about the negatives. It can be easy to slip into negative mode when the discussion goes the direction of "one downmanship" vs. focused on being thankful. So, focus on your favorite things (the blessings in life) as opposed to the "unfavorites".
Good advice Charlie.
Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things
Cream colored ponies and crisp apple streudels
Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
These are a few of my favorite things
Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver white winters that melt into springs
These are a few of my favorite things
When the dog bites
When the bee stings
When I'm feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel so bad
