The Power of Walking Away
In this economy with unique challenges, I'm worried some of us might forget about what we're worth. I've already had a couple conversations that make me think this.
Not every business deal is a fit. Not every job or project you should take. Sometimes, if someone isn't willing to pay you what you're worth, and you know it, being willing to walk away (and really do it) can be one of your most powerful negotiating tools. There's lots of people who are pretty used to folks bending over backwards at their own cost to make them happy.
Of course, don't close yourself off to all opportunities - but it's very important as a business owner or decision maker to "know thyself.'
Always strive for the best customer service - but customer service costs time and money - so get compensated properly to provide great products and services to your customers!
An afterthought - if you're a business where it's all cost driven, and the only way you make a sale is through the lowest price, it's probably time to make a change before it changes away from you.

Jeremiah,
I agree 100%
My competitors are dropping their prices like wild fire to grab any client base they can as they slip quickly into the economic sand! I learned from THE Drew Sygit that you never focus (or sell) on price!
Instead I have focused on selling on Keith (relationship and going that extra mile) and my backroom (service) which I would serving your fries at a fast food chain if I did not have them!
Thanks for posting this Jeremiah and I hope some other folks here on MCC jump on and continue this thread with their input and feedback...
Thanks, Keith Stonehouse
Great Posts Guys!!! I have learned over the years that when selling based on relationships and solutions retain a higher value with your clients. When economic times are not well people tend to go for solutions and quality. Products and services that will last.
People will spend money when shown that there is a value attached. Value can be your product, your service or you!!
I agree with Jeremiah do under estimate your worth. If you give it away you devalue the product or service.
