Good Business Practice?

For those of you who know me you know I drive a 96 Ford T-Bird with 226,000 mi on it. I have Glaucoma so I don't drive a lot and it gets me from point A to B. I left flash-and-dash behind me several years ago and a car is only transportation to me.

Well I think it's time to put a bullet in the old horse, the heater went out this week. For grins I got a few estimates and it looked like I was going to have to spend around $500 to fix it. Not gonna happen.

On a whim I went by and visited Bob at B/C Auto Care on Cooley Lake and Union Lake Rd. He told me that he could not gaurantee it but he might be able to get to what was basicall a stuck vent without removing the dash (that's the expensive part). He said it would cost $100 but he could not gaurantee that he could fix it.

I dropped the car off this morning and at noon he called and said that they could not get to the problem without removing the dash. I said OK and to buttom it up and I'd pick it up at 4:00pm.

I arrived at 4:00 with checkbook in hand ready to pay Bob. After-all he did tell me that he could not gaurantee that he could fix the problem without removing thr dash. He still had to have one of his mechanics do the work, so I was ready to pay. You can imagine my surprise when they told me your OK, you don't owe us anything.

I asked Bob why he did not want the money and he told me he takes money for fixing problems and he did not fix mine. When I left I wondered how can you stay in business committing your resources to jobs that you make no money on. Then it dawned on me. Here I am writing about and recommending an honest mechanic to a potential audience of over 1800 people. Good business practice, you decide.

thanks Duane for the reccomendation. My children have older cars and whenever we have a problem it is diffucult to find an honest mechanic.  I am going to refer him to my son asap.

I had another pleasant surprise today. Fellow MCC member Kirk Goodell is VP at IQCartridge located in the shopping center on the Northwest corner ot 14Mikle and Haggerty. I get my spent printer cartridges refilled there. I brought one in today and had it refilled and they came back and told me that it was slightly damaged and was not printing perfectly. They said it would print but not up to their standards and gave me my cartridge back at no charge to me. Guess what people, for what I use it for it's printing just fine.

I really appreciate the integrity of Kirk's people and would recomment IQCartridge to anyone looking to save money and get a quality refill.

Gee, I found an honest mechanic for my car and had a great experience at IQ, could this be the law of reciprocity Terry keeps talking about. We did do the Blightbusters thing a couple of weeks back, it really works! Look at all the great luck I'm having. We have the Red Cross event in December, come join us, turn your luck around.
