Excellent quote, Mark!
Here are two more:
"Sometimes it is more important to discover what one cannot do than what one can do." (Lin Yutang)
"Good people are good because they've come to wisdom through failure. We get very little wisdom from success." (William Saroyan)
Well, I am not going to continue on this quote train... but, I am going to comment on Mark (and Linda's) Walt Disney mention...
My entire childhood growing up - My father idolized Walt Disney... and I never knew or understood why. My father explained to me why he thought he was so amazing but still I never could grasp why or how a grown man would think he is so amazing.
7 years ago my father was diagnosed with terminal cancer ( starting in his lungs <for all your smokers out there> ) and the doctors told him that he had 3-6 months to live! My father told them that was nonsense and laughed in their faces! He then began living through the mentality and beliefs of Mr Walt Disney.
If you have ever heard the song from Tim McGraw - Live like you were dying - You heard the song based on my father's life... seriously!
His entire life he wanted to meet and shake the hand of Walt Disney and never did. He could never afford to go to Disney Land or World so he never did that either. When his time was called - My father spent a lot of time down in Florida at Disney World finally getting his chance... living like he was dying and remembering his existence through the following quote:
"All the adversity I've had in my life, has strengthened me. You may not realize it when it happens, but a kick in the teeth may be the best thing in the world for you" [Walt Disney].
Thank You Mark Besh for the great memories... It's been a long time since a tear has come to my eye for such an amazing reason.
My father passed away July 24th 2004 after a nearly 3 year struggle with Cancer but never onced complained and he lived more in those 3 years than he did in all 59 years of his wonderful existence on this earth! He is my inspiraton!
Thank you for letting me share this with you MCC
Tears are not a bad thing Keith, it's just whatever power you believe in's way of letting you know how deeply you care. It took me 55 years to lesrn that lesson and it gratifying to see a young man with enough self-confidence to let a few flow every now and then.
Thank You Duane... that's why you are WHO YOU ARE today! ... a great man!
