My networking best practice??? SHOW UP!
That's it. That's as simple as it gets. In order to be an effective networker, you need to show up. Whether it's a face to face event or online, you really should put yourself out there.

I made my staff watch the Last Lecture as part of our ongoing training. I also used the movie Crash and the George Carlin rant "I'm a Modern Man" as non traditional methods to get my staff to focus on perception, communication and values. The use of main stream multi media has been quite effective in driving home the point.
