How Much info is TOO Much?

I'm wondering about how much information is too much information on sites like LinkedIn and Plaxo Pulse and resumes when looking for work?

• Some say that I should keep 'present' as my end date while others say that you're not showing you've ended that relationship.


• Some say that I should pare down my profiles to only read what's on my resume and little more.


• I was told that I should use my profiles like electronic resumes by others

I'm sure their are no written rules here, but I'm curious what the sense of it all is from the cross section of opinions.
