ULI Detroit - Transit Oriented Development: Today, Tomorrow, Detroit
Wednesday, July 23, 2008
- Location -
Museum of Contemporary Art and Design
1101 W. University Drive
Rochester, MI
These presentations will discuss the creation of the transit oriented development with the focus on mass transit being the proponent of development. The mixed use development combines retail, housing and office and parking garages designed to convert into residential or office, once automobiles are less in demand. Please join us for a liberal discussion about this very urban design, coming to Detroit. In conjunction with MOCAD's considering Detroit show, considering Architecture: Sustainable Designs from Detroit will also be on view. This show will include the designs, architecture and products of several local area architecture firms and highlight their projects that include "green" or sustainable design practices.
Featuring work from Detroit, Ann Arbor and nationally, the projects represent a wide range of 21st century buildings offering sustainable design solutions. Project types include the new Detroit River Wildlife Refuge, a new Ann Arbor Public Library and container house architecture, among others.
considering Architecture: Sustainable Designs from Detroit was organized by the Detroit Urban Priorities Committee, a committee of the American Institute of Architects Detroit, and in collaboration with the Urban Land Institute and the U.S. Green Building Council.
