What is the most cost-effective way of updating outlook on my home pc, so I may sync my calendar w/ iPhone? I am tired of carrying around a date planner, when I can keep everything in the phone. Thanks for the advice!
At work we have the office suite on our server, but I update & charge the iPhone at home.

Well Outlook 2007 as a stand-alone is $109 MSRP and it's the best way. Maybe Microcenter might have a better price or something.
However, if you can find a copy of Outlook 2003 (maybe one of the many IT folks on here has a license they'll sell yout), you might be able to to get a cheaper price on that. If your word/excel/etc. software at home is 2003, then that shouldn't be a problem.
The real question is what productivity software you have at home. If you have Word/Excel/etc. 2003 then get Outlook 2003. If you have 2007, then I'd get outlook 2007 to keep everything straight.
Jeremiah,
Thanks for the info. I do not have any of the Microsoft Office (word, excel, ppt) at home. My PC has Outlook Express (not sure what yr. or what the difference is between that and the other Outlooks)
I guess, I wouldn't mind having the Office Suite at home, but I can access my work server from home, but I can't sync anything on the iPhone that way. Basically, I would like to have the calendar feature of the Outlook at home for my iPhone.
So if I purchase the Office Suite, will that take care of what I'm looking for? Which Outlook has the calendar feature?
Thanks again!

Outlook Express won't sync with the iPhone, unfortunately.
BOTH Outlook 2003 and 2007 have calendaring, and they sync with the iPhone. In the Windows world, Outlook is the lingua franca of email, contact, and calendar applications.
How old is your computer? If you can find a legit copy of Office 2003 somewhere, it'll probably run better if your computer is more than a year and a half old. Various Amazon stores have the entire thing from $150-$250. Make sure you get the professional edition.
Although, you can buy Outlook 2007 alone for $110. That's all you actually need for what you want to do, and it will be miles better than Outlook Express (which is no longer officially supported by Microsoft) and will be your email program, your calendar, and contact manager.
But it's good to have the whole office suite if that's what you work on at work.
For about $12 (S&H from Microsoft) you can get Outlook 2003 with a trial version of Small Business Server 2003. I didn't even bother loading the other program, just Outlook 2003 (SP3) It takes 7-10 days to receive it here in Motown. I'm sure ther are other places for that extra hundred buck to be used. (Here is the link http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/bb738394.aspx You will have to cut and paste into your browser.
Good Luck
GREAT suggetion Keith! I knew there had to be a better way...
And here is the link from Keith activated so that you can just click on it:

Thanks Guys, I just ordered it! Keith- it said 180 trial period. Will it stop working after 180 days?
~Jenn
Sorry if I wasn't clear.
The trial period is for the Small Business Server.
The Outlook license doesn't expire, it will just become unsupported but that won't be for some time.
Enjoy
P.S. Thanks for edit (the post with the click on link) Jeremiah. I wasn't sure how to insert a link (I'm html challanged)
