I am taking the plunge and need to get a toll-free number, but I am hoping to find one that will cost between $5 and $10 per month.
Thanks!

Are you looking for just Toll Free # or do you need toll free # with a Virtual PBX / receptioninst system ?
I am not in that business but , since I was looking to update DotSign's PBX system I was doing some research, depending on what you are interested , I will forward the links and info of resources/web site that I thought was very cost effective and excellent service.

I'm looking for a toll-free number only. I don't have a bricks & mortar office.

I'd do Phonepeople.com - I like'em.
They ave a $9.99 plan, but $19.99 has more features you'll probably use.
Thanks Jeremiah! I will check them out!

Here is a good comparison between the top providers: http://www.tollfreenumber.org/forum/forum-2.html
Hope this helps you make the right choice.Ring central is supposed to be good as well http://www.ringcentral.com .
Also Walt Rush will be a great resource/experience to talk to in MCC, unbiased effective options, if not I am sure he will direct you to the right place - http://motorcityconnect.collectivex.com/network/show_profile/41969
How many different people are involved n your company. If your goal is to consolidate different phone number to just 1 number of your choice (not sure if you can get toll free number here), there is a free option from google. Contact me I will fill you with more details.
...and also Bruce Grantz from our MCC will be a good resource - http://motorcityconnect.collectivex.com/network/show_profile/85941
Here's another resource a friend of mine uses:
http://gotvmail.com/
Plans start at $9.95 there, too.
Thanks to all who have helped me in this search.
I have started the process and will soon have my toll-free number!

I love RingCentral (ringcentral.com). It's a virtual system with follow me, faxing, multiple extensions and so much more. The system is a hosted business solution, and fully customizable to your needs. I have used them for years and it costs me $29.99 per month. I have a toll free number and toll free fax. With Ring Central you do not need a brick and mortar building, as the phone can redirect wherever you choose.
