MCC Members Under 30

I've come to realize generational differences between myself and the average MCCer. For example, I'm a business social media guru often speaking with someone who's "kid uses that stuff." While I can't summit an entire breakdown to highlight the value on a person-by-person basis, I wouldn't mind hosting an event to help our over 30 MCCers out.
My point: The under 30 MCC crowd has a lot to offer. I'm spearheading an intiative to group this crowd and start making things happen.

This posting has opened a tremendous and enjoyable dialog. At MBC Global Managing Builders, Boomers, Xs, and Ys - without losing your Zs and Generations in the Classroom are two of our most requested workshops. It proves that people of all ages are stuggling to deal with the generational differences yet have a great yearning to understand and utilize the assets and talents of every generation.
I think Shauna is spot on in her assessment. Most people I've met under the age of 30 are not networking pros. Sure, we have a lot of exceptional under 30s here in MCC, but that's because MCC is filled with exceptional people of every age. As a matter of fact, most folks you meet outside of MCC (regardless of age) don't have a clue about business networking. Most folks throw you a business card and call it a day.
In order for MCC to grow, thrive and help all of us succeed, we need to reach out to the uninitiated in each market segment, shepherd them through the process and spawn more exceptional networkers.
I applaud Shauna for starting this sub group of MCC. This is exactly the initiative we need.
Now who is starting a sub group for the 30 year olds? The 40 year olds? The 50 year olds? The seasoned citizens? How about a sub group for real estate professionals? A sub group for recently downsized? One for marketing folks and one for IT professionals?
Find your niche and lend a hand like Shauna.
Great ideas... I would like to take the initiative to start a Real Estate Professionals Group! I honestly think that if we all put our heads together in this wonderful Michigan market / economy - we can make a change with all of our different ideas, goals, and ethics in Michigan Real Estate! I am in the works already putting Realtor mastermind groups together focusing on just this! *If your a Real Estate Professional (Appraiser, Mortgages, Inspector, title company, Realtor, etc.) let me know if your interested.
What do you under 30s think of meeting the week of July 14-18? What time works best for you (morning, midday or after 5?) I'd like to meet at Biznet in Wixom (Beck and I-96).
I've organized an overview and I'm excited to hear your ideas in person.
I would Love to be involved.
That week looks good, But after 5 is best (especially since Wixom may as well be Chicago)

If the under 30s are also on Twitter (or even if you're not), perhaps you'd be interested in the Tweetup I'm hosting at Biznet on September 5th.
We promise: wii, foosball, comfy chairs, good music no (required) yelling to communicate, and -of course-beverages.

Sorry to join this conversation at such a late stage in the game...HOWEVER...better late than never.
What I've gathered most from everyone's posts thus far is the idea of bridging the gap. It DOES NOT matter what the age, as long as we all have the same general purpose. My purpose is to:
So, Shauna, whatever I can do to help (being an "under 30" myself), please let me know. I have to admit, I have absolutely no idea what a Tweetup is, but it sounds interesting enough. (Actually, it was the Wii and the foosball that sounded the most interesting...but hey, you're never to old to learn something new!)
I'm also a late contributor to this thread and many of the comments I would make have already been said. So, with that being said I am interested in being involved when things progress.
