The Love for Detroit (#313DLove) Event was tremendous
Man, what a great day filled with rock solid people sharing wonderful stories about the change they're making in and around the D.
Here is a lovely video put together by one of our sponsors, Blue Cross Blue Shield.
The videos of each of the talks are being "cut" right now and I will update this post with each presentation over time. In the meantime, here is a quick rundown.
We had 11 people who mostly told their stories and why they choose to make a difference in our area. The order of speakers looked like this:
Hajj Flemings of Brand Camp University
Lisa Diggs of Buy Michigan Now
Yisreal Pinson of Chabbad Detroit
Chazz Miller of Public Art Workz
We took a break from the live action and showed an awesome video by the United Way entitled Much Love.
Menachem Kniespeck of Operation: Kid Equip
Rod Hairston of Envision U.
Then we took a little break to help make sure that we trended on Twitter. And trend we did. There were 1000's of tweets tagged #313DLove. They were so cool to read the next day. I spent a few hours reading them and retweeting them. I am going to make a separate blog post that showcases my favorites. I will link to that soon.
After the cookies and coffee we came back in to hear some great stories from:
Leslie Smith of TechTown
Scott Fader of Suits for Soldiers
Ricardo Bartlett of Greater St. Paul Baptist Church
Minesh Baxi of Minesh Baxi and Associates
John George of Blightbusters
Shawne Duperon of Shawne TV
Each of their stories were as unique as the people who shared them and yet they all seemed to follow a similar theme:
Follow Your Passion
Lead from Where You Are
Live for Something Greater Than You
Anyone Can Make a Difference
We learned a lot of valuable lessons and are super excited about the 2015 event. In the meantime, be on the lookout for some really exciting projects that support each of the Charities: Operation: Kid Equip, Suits for Soldiers, Blightbusters and Project: Forgive in the coming months.
Big thanks to all of our sponsors: Somerset Lending, Airfoil, RUB BBQ Pub, Charles Wright Museum, United Way, Minesh Baxi and Associates, Blue Cross and Blue Shield and of course, Click Click Car. Speaking of Click Click Car, check out the new intro video HERE. The audience loved it.
Special thanks to the team: Paul Funk, Colin McConnell, Mike Brennan, Stephanie Styron Bean, Sara Stawarz and Jeff Wegner.
Let's make some more magic happen folks!!

Absolutely FANTABULOUS event! I was enlightened, encouraged, and challenged to BE THE CHANGE I want to see in Detroit!
Thank you Terry Bean and your great team for all your efforts in putting this event together, and the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History for the superb venue.
