I had the good fortune to head down to Shinola last week and get a private tour. If you're not familiar, with this company that is truly bringing manufacturing back to Detroit, go to the Shinola Website Now. They're making bikes and watches right now. They also have a leather and paper line and will be increasing their production of both in 2014. In March of this year they had around 10 people...now they have over 120. That's AWESOME.

Perhaps they make something that would be idea for someone on your shopping list?

Speaking of your shopping list, our friend Lisa Diggs has compiled the Holiday Gift Guide for those of us who are interested in keeping our money in state. I'm not sure the list started on Motor City Connect, but I do remember this discussion in 2008 that added a ton of listings. Be sure to take the pledge while looking at the guide.

Menorah in the D.

Original MCC member and good friend Benji has been instrumental in putting on the annual Menorah in the D. event. I made it down to Campus Martius with my family last year and even though I'm not Jewish, I found it a wonderful event and cultural experience. If you like good food, great music, cool air and a lot of fun, I'd ask you to mark December 4 on your calendar and give the #MenorahInTheD Facebook Page a like.
