Volunteer Coordinator & Grant Writer Positions Available

We are a group of Metro Detroit community members who are passionately working to bring an interactive Children's Discovery Center to the children and families of Metro Detroit.  We are looking for volunteers to help our committees. We are also searching for a Volunteer Coordinator and a Grant Writer for our committees.



These positions are voluntary at this time with the potential of becoming a paid position as we organize our center. Experience is a needed asset as well as a passion for children's education and making Detroit a better place to work, live and enjoy!



Volunteer Coordinator:


As Volunteer Coordinator, you will be responsible for leading the day to day activities and programs for Imaginosity Discovery Center (when we are fully open). You will lead volunteer based activities and programs as well as help plan and execute special events by providing training of volunteers and scheduling staff as needed for proper and effective programming. We will be creating several community events for fundraising for our capital campaign and this position will be key to a successful campaign.


In addition, you will work to develop and maintain relationships with local schools, businesses and social organizations to establish an active network of volunteers and community resources. You will also maintain a calendar of activities and events that provide a variety of family centered experiences. Organizational skills, "people-skills" as well as effective public speaking skills are a definite asset.


 


Grant Writer: 


The ideal candidate will have experience finding and writing grants in the education and museum arenas, will have knowledge of the current and future trends of these arenas and will have demonstrated success in procuring grants in the recent past.


Excellent written and verbal skills are required. This individual must be able to represent and present our organization to foundations, community groups, etc. who may have an interested in developing a funder relationship with Imaginosity Discovery Center.


This position's day-to-day responsibilities requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to organize multiple, very detailed projects and tasks simultaneously, self-direction and motivation, and short and long-term strategic planning skills.
