Do you know of a Paleo inspied resturant in the D?

I'm a holistic nutritionist and I am compiling a healthy restaurant resource guide for my clients (and to post to my website so you can have it too!).

Specifically I am looking for restaurants that meet the following criteria -

  1. Offer wild caught seafood and meats.

  2. Offer grass fed or wild caught beef, pork, lamb wild game.

  3. Use organic products

  4. Offer Gluten free and grain free menu options.

BTW- Paleo eating is based on ancestral foods - 50% organic/non-GMO vegetables and fruits; wild caught or pasture raised animal products, no grain (not even GF); nuts and seeds, healthy fats, coconut oil, olive oil, macadamia oil and avocado.....

Have you tried the Root Restaurant? They might have something you're looking for! Here's their philosophy:

"The Root Restaurant is built on the ideology that local, seasonal food is not only a better way to cook but an obligation to nature. Sustainable sourcing and building relationships with our vendors are absolutely vital in our business model. Chef James is constantly touring farms and working with butchers, brewers and artisan food producers to build his menus. Our intent is to showcase seasonality, locality and quality. We believe nature and the farmers do the hard work for us and we are summoned to showcase them through our commitment to our craft. Hand made, from scratch, seasonal, chef-driven cuisine."

Thanks Alyssa,

This is a good Paleo candidate for my list. So far this restaurant is the only one I have seen who actually has a menu offering pasture raised/wild products! I like they have GF too. So many places continue to treat vegetables as a plate decoration - and they are frozen crap, over cooked and tasteless.

Seems we could use more of this kind of eatery in the D because I do not eat out often because the food is so inferior to the way I source and prepare my own home cooked meals. Folks I see in my nutrition practice tend to feel the same way, so there is a market for this!
