Best Driving Route Tips

We all know the freeways... the Reuther, the Chrysler, the O'Hara (guess where that one is... you eastsiders should know)... the Ford...
But sometimes, traffic makes things, everywhere in the region, a little unbearable, so an alternate route may be preferred.
One of my favorite alternates from downtown is to take 75 up to the American Axle HQ - and then take Dequindre the rest of the way when there is a ton of traffic, and I find that I get home quite fast, even though there are a few stop lights.
On the eastside, if I need to head to the Pointes, Jefferson can be a great way to avoid 94's inevitable snarls.
What are some of your favorite shortcuts or hidden ways to get places?
