Spam may suck in a can...new Royal Oak location +
I just sent this blast:
Yes, spam may suck in a can but it sucks way more on a groupsite.
Few things worse than checking your e-mail first thing in the morning than being greeted with a bunch of messages from MCC members saying they were spammed. I'm not complaining about the messages...I'm happy that our group is active enough to let the managers know. I'm complaining about the spammers. What a waste of time. Seriously, find something else to do.
Did you know on average we bounce spammers within an hour of them joining the site? We get 17 messages about each spammer too. The worst part is every spammer after getting bounced joins again at least once and sometimes up to 4 times. What a strange little spammy game, eh? Oh well, please know that we have a good management team in Stephanie Styron, Renee Howarth, Ben Rosenzweig, Charlie Wollborg and myself. We got your back...even outside of the can (well that reads odd).
Royal Oak meeting has moved to Oxford Inn
On the off chance you missed the announcement last week we have moved both meeting locations*. The Royal Oak MCC Live for August 23 will take place at The Oxford Inn located at 1214 S. Main St in Royal Oak. Good news, no charge for parking and it's even closer to 696. I'm looking forward to the new venue. My suggestion is RSVP because this room only seats 32 people.
*the Novi location has moved dates to the 2nd Tuesday of the month and locations to the Uptown Grill in Commerce.
Help kids and Stuff the Shelves
The big "Stuff the Shelves" event with Operation: Kid Equip is this Saturday, August 13. You can get all the details and let us know if you will be joining by clicking that link above.
TEDx Detroit is seeking sponsors
If you know of a company who is in the Detroit area and LOVES our city, this would be a great way to let the world know. We expect 1800 of Detroit's doers, thinkers and leaders to be in the audience of this year's TEDx Detroit conference. If your company would like to be in front of them and the world, this is a great opportunity for only $5,000 to do so. You will get some social media love, some traditional pr love and most importantly the opportunity to share your love for the D with the world. For details call me, 248.224.1326.
The Buy Michigan Now Festival
Did you make it? Did you love it? Did you try the fusion Salsa? Kudos to Lisa Diggs for another great event. Good vendors, good music and good times. We have a lot to love here in Michigan. Thanks Lisa for the reminder ;-)
Do let us know what we can do for you...

Thanks, Terry, and the entire MCC Gang! I know all of you move quickly when a Spammer is reported. They are like nasty mosquitos - you swat one away and another shows up. I know the "OFF" will arrive soon for all of us!
Boy, are you guys good! Your email blast about the spam arrived in my inbox about 1/2 hour before the actual spam did! Keep up the great work! And I miss you all.
Terry:
I'm new to this group. So if I announced some personal and business news, is that spam?
Mike Brennan
Hey, just wanted to share some exciting personal news with this group. My new cyber crime novella, Cyber Styletto, is an entry in Art Prize 2011 in Grand Rapids. If you're interested in getting a review copy, email me at brennan@mitechnews.com.
