Supporting the Detroit Chapter of SCORE

I volunteer at the Detroit SCORE Chaper 18.  For thos not familiar with SCORE the following description of SCORE is taken from the chapter's website at http://scoredetroit.org/content/view/12/26/ .

SCOREĀ®, a resource partner of the U.S. Small Business Administration, is a national organization with approximately 400 chapters and 11,000 members nationwide.

SCORE is an acronym for "Service Corps of Retired Executives."  When created in 1964 members were mostly men and women retired from business.   However, with the burgeoning of business technology, the inclusion of younger members, active in business and experienced in current methods, has been encouraged.  Now the reference to SCORE as "Counselors to America's Small Business" better explains what we do.

The purpose of SCORE remains the same:  professionals who volunteer to help new generations of aspiring business owners make their dreams come true when starting or growing a business.

The focus of SCORE is business counseling.  Confidential counseling can last for a few sessions or several years based on individual needs as one ascends the SCORE Stairway to Business Success.  One-on-one counseling can take place at the main SCORE office, convenient SOUTH EAST MICHIGAN LOCATIONS or at the client's place of business.

Unfortunately, the local SCORE Chapter's needs are such that it requires contributions now more than ever.  Therefore, the purpose of this message is to request that you attempt to identify potential contacts in Business and Professional Organizations (e.g., Corporations, Lawyers, Accountants, Banks, etc.) and/or Charitable Funds (e.g., McDole, DeRoy Testamentary Foundation, etc.) and either provide me the reference or an introduction.

While this is not directly helping children, I believe the South East Michigan community's need for new and future entreprenuers is clear and suxtinct.

In case anyone has doubts about the Local SCORE chapter's need for additional funds, let me assure you that they do.  If the Local SCORE chapter were to receive no more contributions, the Local Chapter could exist for only one-two years as it is presently organized.  I will be glad to obtain and provide more information along with a SCORE fundraising committee member to support any fundraising efforts you provide.  It should be noted that local SCORE Chapter members individual contributions have increased considerably in the past year and a half.

I would appreciate hearing from you regarding potential personal contacts.

If you have questions, or suggestions, feel free to contact me for access to the local SCORE Chapter Fund Raising Committee.

Thank you for your assistance.

Sincerely,

Robert E. McNulty
