Mistake free networking, My RUN, Backpackapalooza and No. VI
I just sent this blast:
I saw a post on facebook where Dean La Douceur (host of the popular Third Thursday Roundtable and featured MCC member) had made the comment "not knowing what to do with the business cards they collect is the second biggest mistake networkers make". Dean firmly believes in digitizing cards. I totally agree. I did ask what the first was and am looking forward to his answer.
Here's my thought: having stacks of cards is bad but its far less offensive than selling people while at networking meetings. Eeeek what a travesty. The other BIG one where networkers blow it is people not following up. HERE is a 2 minute video I put together a while back on the importance of and many ways to follow up.
Run, run, run!!!
Only 2 more days to the national debut and one night only showing of "My Run". I thought it was so cool that Linda Anger posted about this movie back in September 2009 HERE (cool cuz its a great story and was directed produced by a high school mate of mine).
The story is inspirational and a true testament to the human spirit. A man decides to run 75 marathons in 75 straight days to bring awareness to issues single parents face. Click HERE for details on the one night release this Thursday, March 31.
Backpackpalooza
Operation: Kid Equip is one of the most innovative non-profits around and they're at it again. They have a wall that allows you to show your support and your lovely face or logo to the world. This HERE (link goes to this wall) is a great opportunity to show your support of the kids.
If you're interested in reading the original note Menachem sent to me about this cool opportunity, check it out HERE.
Ever wanted to lead a networking group?
We are in the process of reformatting MCC and are looking for leaders. If you're interested in leading an online or real world group, send me an email at tbean@networkedinc.com. BIG changes are acoming ;-)
MCC Live NOVI
I thought the 5 words about Detroit was such a great idea by Charlie Wollborg that we are going to offer a free lunch next Tuesday, April 5 at the MCC LIVE meeting. Feel free to enter your contest submissions HERE.
As always, do let us know what we can do for you!
All my best-
Terry Bean

Thanks for the reminder about Terry Hitchcock's story, Terry -- he is still an inspiration to me. When we hear that a friend has cancer, or a spouse dies, or some other challenge occurs, we feel bad and do whatever we can at the moment. When the treatment or the funeral is over, or when the original conditions subside, we tend to think all is well - but many times, it is not. Many times, the emotional/psychological, and financial fallout from these situations goes on for a long, long time, and is harder to deal with than the original situation. I attest to this personally.
So, when you see the documentary about this amazing man, reach out to someone you know in a difficult situation - lend them a hand in whatever way you can, and be grateful that you can.
- Linda
Great idea to get involved with Backpackpalooza. Operation Kid Equip is a worthy recipient - your mention compelled me to go make a donation.
