An intimate venue, a worthy cause, a great night out
What would you do if you found out your child will die if you don't find a cure for what will take their life?
You'd fight with everything you have, that's what you'd do.
Fast forward 3 years to this March 8th. Mom Marissa and Dad Joseph present their 3rd annual Benefit Concert to fund research for a cure of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, which attacks 99% boys, and is presently 100% fatal. The 501c3 charity is called Team Joseph, in honor of their 8 year old son.
This Thursday's concert represents the first time in the events three year history that a national act has served as a headliner. Denton, TX based Eli Young Band frontlines a bill that includes local acts Annabelle Road and Jill Jack, thanks to the help of WYCD 99.5 FM Detroit.
As personal friends of mine, and as a member of the Advisory Board for the event, I can assure you that a fine time is scheduled for any propspective attendee, without the overt feeling of needing to make any sort of contribution beyond the cost of the tickets, which are $20 for general seating, $30 for reserved seating, and $75 for a VIP ticket which includes balcony seats and a strolling dinner of dishes prepared by local restaurants. It's truly a great time, which has been true to Marissa and Jeff's vision since they started the event in 2008. Their intent has always been to show people a great time and expose people to the great work being done to move toward a cure for this family and life-devastating affliction.
Tickets can be ordered by visiting Live Nation:

Please, try if you at all can to stop in and see the tremendous sense of community embodied by those assisting in this cause.
Truly,
Roger Burnett

Also, I forgot to mention that the show is at the Fillmore Theatre, downtown Detroit. Show starts at 6 and goes until 10, and persistent rumors of an afterparty at a nearby watering hole
