MCC Calendar, The Challenge, Iact, Lucky San Fran, DMC, your vote and something Fabulous
I just sent this blast:
This message brought to you by the good folks at Simplified Benefits. They have a very simple ASK for you as it pertains to friends and family you have who work at DMC. Please click the ASK to see how you can help those you care about and an MCC member.
Welcome to 2011!!
How excited are you? Have you felt the buzz? The Detroit area is about to re-emerge from its Chrysalis (thanks Chris Brogan for that analogy) as the beautiful butterfly it is. What will this mean for your business? Plenty, if you're well positioned. Here's a couple of ways to get positioned this month through MCC meetings.
MCC January Schedule
MCC Live Royal Oak- Black Finn Tuesday, January 11 11:15-12:30- RSVP/Details
MCC Live Commerce- Uptown Grill Friday, January 21 8:00-9ish RSVP/Details
MCC Live Royal Oak- BDs Mongolian Grill Tuesday, January 25 11:15 RSVP
MCC Live Novi- BDs Mongolian Grill Tuesday, February 1 11:15-12:30 RSVP
Are you up for the Challenge Event?
January 28th could be a day that changes your business and personal life forever. I feel very blessed to have met Rod Hairston of Envision U in 2009. He wrote an amazing book called "Are you up for the challenge?" that is the single best book I've read in the "self improvement" space. Rod was a Navy Seal, a master trainer with Tony Robbins for 9 years and has coached/trained many Fortune 500 companies. He will be sharing his knowledge with you in this day long event that you won't want to miss. Details are HERE.
iACT aka It's A Charity Thing
iACT is looking for marketing agencies from across the Detroit metro area to participate in the iACT challenge: building a marketing campaign for a local charity. Participating marketing agencies and charities will gain tons of viral exposure and awareness. iACT gives our local charities what they need to grow, and each charity gives communities what they need to grow, resulting in bigger changes and a brighter future for the Detroit area. The event is April 15th at Paper Street Motors in Ferndale and is founded by Tylar Masters, owner of Kampaund Marketing. For more information or to register, visit www.acharitything.com.
Something FABULOUS in Ferndale
Here's another chance to get connected with great people in the Detroit area. The Ferndale Area Chamber of Commerce is putting on an event on January 27th that will really get your creative juices flowing. It looks like a ton of fun and I can tell you it's a great group. Check out the details HERE.
A vote for warmth
My good friend and spiritual coach, Catherine Hilker, has entered her mom in a contest to win a new furnace. Can you take 30 seconds of your day to help her win? Click HERE to learn more.
Our loss is San Francisco's gain
Bittersweet best describes how I feel about this part of the message. Natalie Brundred, a long time MCC member and moderator of many Royal Oak meetings will be leaving our area to chase her heart's dream and move to the bay area. It's awesome news Natalie and we wish you all the best. On a personal note, I'm very grateful for the active role you've taken in Motor City Connect. Thank you!
Here's to a most excellent 2011
Cheers-
Terry Bean

Terry -
You're very welcome! It has truly been my privilege and my pleasure to be a part of MCC for these last two+ years. I have met some of the best people Detroit has to offer, been able to support them in growing their businesses and our community, gotten to laugh and work and laugh and sweat and cry and laugh and... Oh - did I mention laugh?
Thank you for having the vision of what the business community can be in Detroit and for giving us all a forum to contribute to each other and our larger community, as well as for ALWAYS being a beacon of possibility for our area. Don't ever stop!
My love and gratitude to you all for being such wonderful compatriots in this incredible journey.
